Men’s Tennis Wraps up Fall Play

ANDERSON, S.C. – The Anderson University men's tennis team has officially closed its fall season claiming each of its three team matches while several individual players had success at the Francis Marion Invitational and ITA Individual Tournament.

With the victories, the Trojans head into the spring season 3-0. The Black and Gold began the fall season defeating South Atlantic Conference opponent Brevard, 8-1, then three days later handed Conference Carolinas member Emmanuel a 7-2 loss. Anderson's third win of the fall season was against another CC member, North Greenville, beating the Crusaders 8-1.

Playing in the Francis Marion Invitational, senior Nicolas Ascarrunz competed in both the singles and doubles division winning the men's singles second flight. In the doubles action, Ascarrunz teamed up with freshman Preston Morpath bringing home a second place finish in the men's doubles second flight.

Also, playing in the FMU Invitational in the singles draw was freshman Ignacio Bidegain finishing 11th in the men's singles first flight backdraw. Bidegain also played well at the ITA Individual Tournament losing in the round of 32.

Anderson begins its spring season on Saturday, February 4 against Peach Belt opponent Columbus State. First serve is slated for 2 p.m at the AU Tennis Complex.
