CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Unable to end its South Atlantic Conference schedule with a victory, Anderson University men's tennis dropped a 5-1 decision to league newcomer Queens University of Charlotte Sunday afternoon at Freedom Park.

With the setback, the Trojans closed their conference slate at 8-3 for the year, earning the No. 5 seed in next week's Food Lions SAC Tournament. Anderson will have a rematch with the Royals in the opening round, as Queens won the tiebreak with the Trojans in the SAC standings, also closing the league schedule with an 8-3 mark. Overall, AU falls to 9-8.

Anderson's lone victory of the day came in the doubles round as an altered lineup took to the courts for the second straight match. Freshman Juan Carracedo and sophomore Inaki Iriberry, who played their first doubles match together this season, captured an 8-5 win over Queens' Will Roberson and Ignacio Casali at the No. 3 position.

In the singles round, the Trojans fell short of claiming a win, as the home side took three straight matches to seal the victory. All three AU players fell in three sets, as Carracedo drooped a 6-4, 3-6, 6-0 decision to Per-Erik Soler at No. 1, while sophomore Tomas Passalacqua fell to Jules Athalis 6-4, 2-6, 6-0 at the No. 2 slot.

At No. 3, freshman Mateo Rivas was defeated by Andre Bafume 6-4, 1-6, 6-3 to round out the singles portion.

Anderson closes out its 2014 regular season slate on Tuesday when it partakes in its lone neutral site match of the spring season when it heads to Fort Mill, S.C. to face Belmont Abbey. First serve is scheduled for 4 p.m.
