ANDERSON, S.C. - Posting its first shutout of the season, Anderson University men's tennis blanked South Atlantic Conference opponent Brevard, 9-0, Thursday afternoon at Max Grubbs Memorial Courts.

With the triumph, the Trojans improve to an even 4-4 mark for the year, but continue their winning ways in conference matches, moving to 4-1. Brevard falls to 1-9 overall and 0-2 in league play.

In the doubles round, the freshmen duo of Juan Carracedo and Mateo Rivas earned their second straight victory with an 8-2 win over Brevard's David Taggart and Rory Northam at the No. 1 spot. At No. 2, sophomore Paul Michael Calhoun and senior Danilo Faria added an 8-2 win, while the sophomore team of Tomas Passalacqua and Inaki Iriberry claimed an 8-6 win at No. 3.

AU continued the momentum in the singles round, as five of the six Trojans recorded straight-set wins. Passalacqua cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Northam at the No. 2 position, while Rivas tallied a 6-2, 6-1 triumph over Brevard's Nathan Sabate at No. 3. Calhoun blanked Plasa 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4, while Iriberry defeated Guilherme Prophirio 6-4, 6-1 at the No. 5 slot.

Rounding out the singles round, Faria (No. 6) knocked off George Finch 6-4, 6-4, while Carracedo fought his way back to a 1-6, 6-1, 10-6 victory over Taggart at No. 1.

Anderson looks to continue its winning ways on Friday when it welcomes GRU Augusta to the Upstate. First serve from Max Grubbs Memorial Courts is slated for 2 p.m.
