Men’s Tennis Eases Past Belmont Abbey

SUN CITY, S.C. - The Anderson University men's tennis team won its fourth consecutive match by defeating Conference Carolinas' foe Belmont Abbey, 8-1, on Saturday afternoon.

Anderson improved to 9-5 on the season, while Belmont-Abbey fell to 3-13.

The Anderson tandem of Krystof Gulbinovic and Paul Calhoun ran their win streak to four matches by defeating Rodrigo Alatre and Michael Van Dusen, 8-4, at the No. 2 doubles flight, while AU's Daniel Gonzalez and Inaki Iriberry also claimed their fourth consecutive victory by getting past Idris Moya and Tim Tanko, 8-3, at No. 3 doubles to give the Trojans a 2-1 edge going into singles play.

Anderson did not lose a set in singles' action, with AU's Loic Ambroise winning his seventh consecutive match, 6-0, 6-2, past Alatre at No. 4 singles and Iriberry extending his win streak to 11 matches with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Belmont Abbey's Tanko at the No. 6 slot.

Anderson will get back on the courts Monday, when the Trojans wrap up the regular season buy playing host to Erskine at 2:30 p.m.
