Upstate Ends Anderson's Winning Streak

SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- USC Upstate won all six singles matches and the 12th-ranked Spartans took a 7-2 victory over No. 24 Anderson Thursday afternoon in non-conference men's tennis action at the USC Upstate Tennis Complex. USC Upstate improves to 6-3 on the year and next plays at Presbyterian Friday afternoon. The loss snaps Anderson's eight-match winning streak and drops the Trojans to 9-2. Anderson travels to Coker and Francis Marion this weekend. Anderson won the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles matches to take a 2-1 lead heading into singles action. Raul Luna and Srikrishna Ramanathan claimed a 9-8 victory at No. 2 doubles and Carlos Sanches and Gustavo Carvalho won 9-7 at the No. 3 slot to give Anderson two points. USC Upstate's No. 1 doubles team of Diego Sist and Stefan Dumitrescu won 8-6 to give the Spartans a point. In singles play, USC Upstate dominated by not losing a set in any match. Dumitrescu claimed the first singles match victory, a 6-2, 6-1 win over Carvalho at the No. 2 slot. Sist followed with a 6-3, 6-2 win at the No. 1 spot.
