AU Student-Athlete Advisory Committee’s Efforts Raise $7,000 for Make-A-Wish

ANDERSON, S.C. – Each year, NCAA Division II institutions participate in a variety of fundraisers to help raise money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation® and once again the Anderson University Student-Athlete Advisory Committee stepped up and worked to collect donations for this great cause throughout the 2022-23 academic year.

Under the mentorship of Deputy Athletics Director Matthew Finley and Assistant Athletics Director Jon Rutter, the more than four dozen members of the Trojan SAAC raised a school-record $7,000 as part of their ongoing fundraising efforts to help raise money for this worthwhile cause, which was more than an 11 percent increase over the 2021-22 academic year and was an impressive 46 percent jump from just two years ago.

"I am so proud of all of our SAAC members here at Anderson for helping us raise $7,000 for Make-A-Wish," said former AU SAAC President and volleyball standout, Lindsay McCurley. "We also got the awesome opportunity to host a wish reveal on our campus for a young girl! This was such a fun opportunity to be a part of that would not have been possible without everyone's contribution to make a wish. I cannot wait to kick off our fundraising for the 2023-2024 school year and raise even more!"

Although the Trojans were just shy of their lofty fundraising goal, they once again led the South Atlantic Conference and finished behind just Kentucky Wesleyan ($10,227) and New Haven ($10, 226) in total dollars raised.

Members of the Anderson SAAC participated in a variety of fundraisers to help raise money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation®, including collecting donations online, as well as at volleyball, soccer, basketball, baseball and softball games, along with tennis matches. Fans were also able to take advantage of discounted admission to many games as a way of donating to Make-A-Wish.

All proceeds from the SAAC fundraising efforts go to the Make-A-Wish Foundation to support Anderson's fundraising efforts.
