Love Readies for NCAA Championships

ANDERSON, S.C. – On the heels of an impressive eighth-place performance at the NCAA Southeast Regionals two weeks ago, Anderson women's cross country standout Haylee Love is set to compete at the NCAA National Championships, Saturday morning in St. Leo, Florida.

The women's 6K is set for a 9:45 a.m. start.

Love became the first Trojan cross country runner to qualify for the national championships since former All-American Whitney Bishoff earned back-to-back appearances in 2008 and 2009 and again during the 2011 campaign. The junior covered the 6K course in a personal-best time of 21:48.0, slashing nearly two minutes off her previous time on the same course from mid-September, when she crossed the finish line in 27th place at Montevallo's Falcon Classic. Love had earlier crossed the finish line in a time of 23:38.7.

A native of Lexington, S.C., Love opened the month of October by pacing the Trojans to a first-place finish at the USC Upstate Invitational by claiming sixth place in a 5K distance. She captured All-South Atlantic Conference honors for the third straight year after crossing the finish line in 13th place in a time of 19:11.1 at the 5K SAC Championships in late October.

As a freshman, Love collected third place at the 2014 Lenoir-Rhyne Invitational and followed up with an eighth-place effort at the SAC Championships.
