Men’s Cross Country Jumps to Sixth in USTFCCCA Southeast Region Poll; Women Remain Fourth

NEW ORLEANS – After strong showings at Montevallo's Falcon Classic last weekend, the Anderson University women's cross country team remained fourth in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) latest rankings, while the men's team jumped to sixth, as released Tuesday afternoon.

The men's squad, which was ranked eighth in last week's USTFCCCA poll, climbed to sixth after finishing seventh in last weekend's preview of the NCAA Southeast Regional. The Peach Belt Conference placed six teams in this week's poll, with top-ranked Mount Olive representing Conference Carolinas. The Trojans, along with Queens and Mars Hill represented the South Atlantic Conference.

Mount Olive remained atop the weekly poll, with Queens and Mars Hill switching spots in the rankings, as the Royals moved to second and the Lions slipped to third. Augusta held onto fourth place this week, with Flagler remaining in the fifth spot.

Anderson jumped past Montevallo and UNC Pembroke, with the Falcons and Braves falling to seventh and eighth, respectively. Columbus State and Young Harris rounded out the men's rankings.

All ten spots on the women's side remained the same as a week ago, with Montevallo in the top spot and Queens holding the second slot. North Georgia is third, while Anderson remained No. 4. Wingate was fifth, while Mount Olive remained sixth.
