LADY TROJANS BATTLE BITTER WINDS IN TENNESSEE

GREENEVILLE, TN--The Lady Trojan golf team battled unending wind and seasonably cold temperatures, as they competed in Tusculum's Agnes McAmis Memorial Invitational at Link Hills Country Club on Monday; AU managed a team score of 340 and are currently in seventh place out of 19 teams after day one. Sophie Dembroski led the AU women in round one with an 83, and is tied individually for 19th. Lauren Buyers and Hayley Parks shot a pair of 85's, and Anna Jenks rounded out the Lady Trojans' top four with an 87. Fellow Conference Carolinas opponent Belmont Abbey posted an opening round 310 to lead the field. The Lady Crusaders have four players in the top 10 as they look to repeat as McAmis Memorial Champions. Wingate, Carson-Newman, NC-Pembroke, Catawba, and Queens are in front of the Lady Trojans. Battling back will be a long road, and that is if the team even has the opportunity. "The weather today was horrible," said AU head golf coach Danny Neal. "It's supposed to snow up here tomorrow, so right now we don't even know if we will play." If they do get the chance, the Lady Trojans are only nine strokes behind fourth place NC-Pembroke. 1 Belmont Abbey Coll. 310 +22 2 Wingate University 325 +37 3 Carson Newman Coll 327 +39 4 N.
