Men's Lacrosse Returns Home to Host Catawba on Saturday

ANDERSON, S.C. – The No.9 Anderson University men's lacrosse team is getting set to return to Spero Financial Field on Saturday (Mar. 25) where they will play host to the Catawba College Indians.

The Anderson University men's lacrosse team remains ranked in the three national polls: USA Lacrosse Magazine (No.9), Inside Lacrosse (No,12), and USILA (No.12). The Trojans are coming off two wins last week: 19-9 at Tusculum on March 15th, and 14-9 at Lander on March 18th.

Across all three polls, the Trojans are the third highest ranked team in the South Atlantic Conference behind Lenoir-Rhyne and Wingate. Limestone and Newberry were the other two teams ranked in the conference.

Radyn Badraun, Peyton Jefferson, and Hunter Klosterman of the Anderson University men's lacrosse team were named the SAC Varsity Gems Offensive, Defensive, and Specialist Players of the Week, announced by the league office on Monday (Mar. 20 for their efforts in the victories.

Badraun, a freshman attacker from Mission Viejo, CA, scored 11 goals on the week, recording five in the win over Tusculum and six in the victory against Lander with an assist in each game. He picked up four ground balls and caused a turnover for the week.

Jefferson, a senior defender from Allen, TX, caused four turnovers this week with two in each win over Tusculum and Lander. He recorded one goal and three ground balls in Wednesday's win over Tusculum and followed with another goal and five more ground balls in Saturday's win against Lander for a total of two goals and eight ground balls on the week.

Klosterman, a freshman goalkeeper from Cumming, GA, picked up 30 saves in the two wins over Tusculum and Lander with a 63.8 save percentage. He had a career-high night in goal against Lander on Saturday with 20 saves, notching his fifth win as a freshman.

The Indians enter the weekend with a 1-6 record, coming off a tough stretch in the schedule facing four nationally ranked teams (No.2 Le Moyne, No.7 Wingate, No.6 Lenoir-Rhyne, and No. 20 Belmont Abbey). Catawba's lone win of the season came on March 11th at Mars Hill with a 16-12 victory.

Anderson is 0-2 against Catawba in the series history, with last year's loss proving to be the tiebreaker that kept the Trojans out of the SAC Tournament.

The Trojans will be back in action on Saturday (Mar. 25) as they take on the Catawba Indians at Spero Financial Field. Game time is set for 12:00 p.m. with video and live stats available at autrojans.com.
