Trojans Post Strong Outings at University of the Cumberlands

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. - The Anderson University men's track and field team finished sixth, while the women's track and field team posted a seventh-place finish at the University of the Cumberlands Invitational on Friday and Saturday.

Alex Pena finished second in the 3,000 meter steeplechase in a time of 10:23.46, while
Ryne Welch (4:29.92) and Tucker Huellmantel (4:31.53) finished ninth and 10th, respectively in the 1,500 meter run. Micah Smith placed 15th in the 400 meter dash in a time of 55.31, while Josh Butler finished fourth in the 100 meter dash in a time of 11.09 and finished fourth in the 200 meter dash with a time of 23.24. Parks Edwards claimed sixth in the 5,000 meter run with a time 15:41.64.

Joshua Visi-Clark posted a second place finish in the 800 meter run with a time of 1:56.85 and Nathan Plank placed sixth in the discus throw with a toss of 43.10 meters.
Will Byars finished 10th in the discus throw with a distance of 39.66 meters. Plank finished seventh in the shot put with a distance of 13.59 meters and Byars finished 11th with a toss of 12.56 meters.

Byars placed 10th in the hammer throw with a distance of 41.51 meters, with Plank finishing 11th with distance 41.45 meters. Zach Hart earned third in the javelin throw with a distance of 53.88 meters.

On the women's side, Sydney Hazel placed third in the 1,500 meter run with a time of 5:09.26, while Rachel Westberry claimed 10th with a time 5:24.43. Jill Baxter won the high jump with a height of 1.55 meters and posted a fifth-place finish in the 400 meter dash, crossing the line in 1:03.18. Madison Guest earned ninth in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:24.90.

Brooklyn Watt finished fourth in the discus throw with a toss of 37.41 meters, while D'Yandra Morris finished 10th with a distance of 28.50 meters. Savanna Keese placed 12th with a toss of 26.62 meters. Watt placed fifth in the shot put with a toss of 12.27 meters and Morris finished sixth with a distance of 11.55 meters. Keese earned 12th with a distance 9.93 meters.

Brooklyn Watkins placed ninth in the javelin throw with a distance of 26.29 meters.

Anderson will get back in action Friday and Saturday at Lenoir-Rhyne's Invitational.
