Trojan Track and Field Competes at Clemson

CLEMSON, S.C. - The Anderson University track and field teams opened their indoor seasons by competing at Clemson's Orange and Purple Winter Classic, with Brooklyn Watt and Jill Baxter highlighting the Trojan effort Saturday afternoon at the Clemson Indoor Track & Field Complex.

Watt brought home first place in the shot put with a toss of 12.28 meters and earned seventh place in the weight throw at 13.04 meters. Newcomer D'Yandra Morris claimed third place in the shot put with a distance of 11.93 meters and placed 10th in the weight throw with a distance of 11.70 meters. Savanna Keese placed 12th in the weight throw with a toss of 11.39 meters.

Competing in the women's pentathlon, Jill Baxter earned second in the high jump with a height of 1.55 meters, seventh in the shot put with distance of 8.09 meters and ninth in both the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 10.72, and in the long jump.

Amanda Mahaffey placed ninth in the one-mile run in a time of 5:57.55, with Sydney Hazel earing eighth in the 1,000 meter run in a time of 3:24.16. Emily Eckroth posted fifth in the women's 3,000 meter run in a time of 11:03.00.

On the men's side, Zach Hart placed fourth in the pole vault with a height of 4.45 meters and Josh Visi-Clark earned ninth in the 500-meter dash in a time of 1:08.71.

Will Byars placed fourth in the shot put with a toss of 13.78 meters and Nathan Plank earned sixth placed with a distance of 11.14 meters. Plank also took third with a distance of 13.45 meters in the weight throw.


Anderson will get back in action on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 18-19, at East Tennessee State's Niswonger Invitational in Johnson City, Tennessee.
