RIO GRANDE, Puerto Rico - Paced by sophomore Forrest Fowler and freshman Grayson Bell's two-day 11-over-par 155s, the Anderson men's golf team closed out its fall campaign by posting a 10th-place finish at the Illinois-Springfield Island Getaway on Tuesday at the Wyndham Grand Rio Mar par-72, 6,853-yard River Course layout.
Missouri - St. Louis (297-290=587) overcame a three-stroke deficit to claim the team title by three strokes over North Alabama (295-295=590). Columbus State (303-296=599) claimed third, while Tiffin (294-307=601) slipped from the top spot into a tie for fourth alongside Drury (306-295=601).
Valdosta State (306-299=605) finished sixth, with West Texas A&M (306-304=610) finishing in seventh place. The host Prairie Stars (310-309=619) remained eighth, with Jackson State (315-312=627) in ninth. The Trojans (322-309=631) posted the largest turnaround of the 11-team field, while remaining 10th, with St. Joseph's (327-316=643) finishing in 11th place.
North Alabama's Forrest Knight was the lone golfer to fire a better-than-par score on both days, while leading the event from beginning to end, with a two-day 138. Colby Yates of Missouri-St. Louis was six shots further back in second place.
Fowler and Bell wrapped up the event in a four-way tie for 32nd,
while
senior David Wachter notched a two-day 158 to share 43rd. Junior
Payton Whitlock (163) finished in a tie for 55th, while freshman
Cole Jefferys (168) finished 60th.
