ANDERSON, S.C. – The Anderson baseball team opened a four-game homestand by topping Emmanuel, 10-7, in nonconference action Tuesday night at Anderson Memorial Stadium.

Anderson (13-12) moved above .500 for the second time this season with its fourth straight win, while Emmanuel (12-11) suffered its second straight loss.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Senior Carlos Hernandez was 3-for-5 at the plate, with three singles, while scoring twice and driving in a run. Grad student Jordan Montgomery was 2-for-4, with three RBI and a run scored, while freshman Gray Wells kept his hot hand by going 2-for-4, with a run-scoring single and an RBI-double. He also reached base on a third-inning walk.

Freshman Braeden Harrison added his second home run of the season – a two-run shot in the third inning – and a single, while reaching on a sixth-inning walk. Junior Kye Andress notched a single and a walk in five trips to the plate, with Brayden Owens posting a single and a walk.

Junior Graham Brown (2-2) earned the win after tossing two innings of relief, despite allowing four runs on a pair of hits. He walked two and struck out one.

Senior Jackson Herring collected his second save of the season by coming in with the tying run at the plate and notching the final out of the game.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Trojans batted around and scored four times in the bottom of the first inning, with Montgomery driving in a pair of runs on his one-out triple into the right-field corner that plated both Hernandez and Wells.

AU capitalized on the Lions' second error of the contest to score two more runs in the bottom of the second inning, then sent eight batters to the plate in the third frame and built a 9-0 lead – with two of the runs crossing the plate on Harrison's two-run homer just beyond the fence in left field.

Emmanuel countered by scoring five runs over the next three innings, with AU claiming a 10-5 advantage with a solo run in the sixth, when Andress bounced into a fielder's choice.

Following a scoreless seventh and eighth innings, the Lions made it interesting by plating a pair of runs and having runners on the corners with two outs before Herring came on to record the final out.

The Trojans' 10 runs matched their second-highest output of the season.
