Women’s Cross Country Claims 13th at Royals Cross Country Challenge

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Paced by junior Whitney Bishoff's 11th-place finish, the Anderson women's cross country team earned 13th place at the Royals Cross Country Challenge, hosted by Queens University of Charlotte Friday at McAlpine Creek Park.

In a potential preview of next month's South Atlantic Conference Championship as well as the NCAA Southeast Regional, five SAC teams competed in the event that included nearly 700 competitors and 35 teams, in addition to notable Division I institutions such as Florida State, Georgia Tech, Elon and Davidson, UNC Greensboro and UNC Asheville.

Actually split into two races due to the number of teams, Anderson ran the "Gold" 5k distance.

Bishoff (18:05.6) posted her best time of season, trimming more than three seconds off her time at Clemson nearly three weeks ago and finishing 11th out of the combined 290 runners in both the "Gold" and "Blue races.

Freshman Lydia Davis (18:55.6) shaved nearly 28 seconds from her time at Louisville to claim 46th in the field. Sophomore Emily Eckroth (20:04.2) crossed the finish line in 103rd, while freshman Madeline Fitts (20:15.8) finished 110th.

Freshman Hannah Robles (21:00.4) finished 138th and Amanda Johnson (21:43.4), sophomore Isabel Berry (21:43.9) and freshman Madison Guest (22:33.4) crossed the line in 157th, 158th and 173rd, respectively.

Anderson will get back on the course Friday, Oct. 22, when the Trojans travel to Claflin University in Orangeburg, S.C.
