FAIRMONT, W.V. – At the conclusion of the 2023 Fairmont State Volleyball Classic Saturday night, Anderson's Jenna Long, Jaelyn Grimm and Tabitha Wheeler were named to the All-Tournament Team, with Long taking home tournament MVP honors.
The senior trio helped lead the Trojans to a perfect 4-0 record over the weekend, with wins over defending CIAA Tournament Champion Elizabeth City State, host Fairmont State, Ursuline and Slippery Rock.
A native of Clearwater, Fla., Long dished out 145 assists (11.15/set) over the four-match span, including a career-high 61 assists in the Trojans' thrilling come-from-behind five set win over the host Falcons, Saturday afternoon. Long recorded three double-doubles, while posting 42 total digs (3.23/set), 13 kills, three block assists and an ace.
Wheeler and Grimm paced the Trojans with 34 kills apiece, with Grimm committing just three errors in 63 swings for an impressive .492 attacking percentage. She finished the tournament with seven block assists, six digs, three assists and added a pair of aces.
Wheeler posted a .290 hitting percentage and added four blocks, while coming up with five assists and 28 digs over the weekend. The Greenville native notched a double-double against Fairmont State and narrowly missed her second double-double with nine kills and nine digs against Slippery Rock.
