Caro-Sepulveda and Long Named Jimmy John's Athletes of the Week

ANDERSON, S.C. – Julian Caro Sepulveda of the Anderson University men's soccer team, and Jenna Long of the volleyball team have been named the Jimmy John's Athletes of the Week for the week ending September 3.

Caro Sepulveda scored the game winning goal and assisted on another in the Trojans' upset win over No.3 Barry on Thursday (Aug. 31). The freshman connected with Tiago Perez on a corner kick for the first goal of the match, and later scored the clinching goal in the 86th minute off a free kick. The equalizing score happened in the 84th minute as Diego Jaramillo found the back of the net. The win helped Anderson earn a No.6 ranking in the United Soccer Coaches Southeast Region poll.

Long earlier was named the 2023 Fairmont State Volleyball Classic MVP after helping lead the Trojans to four wins at the over the weekend, while averaging a league-leading 11.15 assists per set over 13 sets. The Clearwater, Fla. native dished out 145 total assists over the four-match span, including a career-high 61 assists in the Trojans' come-from-behind five-set win over the host Falcons. Long recorded three double-doubles, while posting 42 total digs (3.23/set), 13 kills, three block assists and an ace in the four contests.

Each week, one male and one female student-athlete are honored as the Jimmy John's Athlete of the Week for his or her performance in competition, in the classroom, or in the community.
