LEXINGTON, Ky. – Following a season that saw the Anderson University volleyball team earn its fifth straight appearance in the South Atlantic Conference Tournament, standout right-side/outside hitter Marissa Mitter has earned Honorable Mention All-Region accolades from the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA).
Mitter helped lead the Trojans to 19 wins this past season, which equaled the 2013 squad for second-most wins since joining the SAC for the 2010 campaign.
At the conclusion of the regular season, Mitter was named First-Team All-SAC after becoming one of only two players in the league to post more than 300 kills and 300 digs during the campaign. The native of Redondo Beach, Calif., led the Trojans and ranked second in the conference with 390 kills and was fourth in the SAC with 3.31 kills per set. She is 12th in the school record books with 849 career kills.
The versatile junior was second on the squad and 18th in the SAC with 345 digs on the year, while posting 20 double-doubles and reaching double-figure kills on 24 occasions, including each of final nine matches.
