Anderson Places Four On All-Conference Team

ANDERSON, S.C. -- Anderson University placed four players on the 2007 All-Conference Carolinas Volleyball team announced Saturday morning. Junior outside hitter Amanda Edwards was named to the first team, senior outside hitter Leanna Willis and freshman setter Lindsay Doggett both were named to the second team, and senior middle hitter Beth Lawson received honorable mention. Edwards, a 5-foot-8 native of Azle, Texas, set the school record for kills in a single season. In 126 regular-season games, she recorded 466 kills and had a hitting percentage of .204. She also recorded 531 digs. She had a career-high 30 kills against Mount Olive in the quarterfinals of the Conference Carolinas Tournament and went over the 500-kill mark in the semifinals against Lees-McRae. Willis, a 5-9 native of Saluda, S.C., recorded 415 kills and 530 digs during the regular season. Doggett, a freshman from Jacksonville, Ala., recorded 1,407 assists and 370 digs during the regular season. She set the school record for assists in a single season. She handed out a career-high 75 assists in Anderson's quarterfinal match against Mount Olive. Lawson, a 6-0 native of Simpsonville, S.C., led Anderson in solo blocks with 32 and was third on the team in kills with 259.
