ANDERSON, S.C. -- Amanda Edwards had a career high 30 kills, including three straight to end the match, to lead fourth-seeded Anderson University to a 30-21, 28-30, 34-32, 31-29 victory over fifth-seeded Mount Olive in the quarterfinal round of the Conference Carolinas Tournament Wednesday night at the Abney Center. Anderson, 20-17 overall, advances to Friday's semifinal round on its home court to face top-seeded Lees-McRae at 4 p.m. Anderson has won five of its last six and eight of its last 10. Mount Olive ends its season at 17-15. Anderson put together a 9-2 run to take control of the first game. Mount Olive rallied from a 25-21 deficit to win the second game. The third game was tied at 29, 30, 31, and 32 before Anderson got the final two points. In the fourth game, Mount Olive rallied from a 25-17 deficit to take a 28-25 lead. Trailing 29-26, Anderson scored five straight points to end the match. Edwards, a junior from Azle, Texas, also had 17 digs. Leanna Willis recorded 16 kills and 18 digs for the Lady Trojans. Beth Lawson and Jamie Lancaster added to the Anderson attack with 15 kills apiece. Anderson setter Lindsay Doggett had 74 assists, and Adria Mullaney led the Anderson defense with 25 digs. Mount Olive was led by Racey Bartley with 24 kills, Sam Mitchell with 19 kills, and Alicia Mote with 14 kills. Mitchell ends her career at Mount Olive with 1,909 kills. Mitchell also led the Mount Olive defense with 26 digs and finishes her career with a school record 1,503 digs.
