Furman Keeps Lady Trojans Winless

GREENVILLE, S.C. - Andre'a Morrison scored her first career hat trick and Kaylan Pedine added two goals and an assist to lead Furman to a 9-0 victory over the Anderson College Lady Trojans in women's soccer action Monday night at Stone Soccer Stadium Morrison, the reigning Southern Conference Player-of-the-Year, opened the scoring in the 13th minute when Julie Einstein's shot rebounded off the right post to the junior who netted the goal from five yards. Nicky Darling stretched the Lady Paladin lead to 2-0 in the 20th minute. Darling took a through ball from Kat Kelley and rocketed a shot by Anderson keeper Megan Woodall from 15 yards. Pedine, a sophomore, capped the first half scoring with a two yard shot at the 42:01 mark on an assist from Emily Krankowski. The Lady Paladins quickly extended their lead after the halftime break with three goals in a three minute span. Darling scored at the 49:54 mark and Morrison added goals at 50:31 and 52:52 to up the Furman advantage to 6-0. Kelley tallied her first goal of the year on a cross from April Raymer in the 68th minute, Pedine scored in the 75th and freshman Anna Betton tallied her first career goal at 83:07 for the final 9-0 margin Freshman Catie Miller recorded two saves in goal to record a shutout in her first career start, while Woodall tallied eight saves in a losing effort for Anderson (0-3-0). Furman held a commanding 30-4 edge in shots and 7-1 edge in corner kicks. The Lady Paladins outshot the Lady Trojans 16-1 in the second half.
