Records Fall As Trojans Compete at Clemson Opener

CLEMSON, S.C. – Wrapping up the 2023 calendar year with a short trip up to Clemson University, the Anderson University men's and women's track and field team set new team records as they competed at the 2023 Clemson Opener hosted by the Tigers on Friday, December 8.

Head Coach Kevin Eagles on the team's Performance:

"We had a really great day as a program to wrap up the December competition season. Coach Mudd has done a fantastic job to get the athletes ready to compete early on as it showed today with several personal bests and new school records. We will now focus on closing out the semester strong academically and focus on coming back even stronger next semester."

Top Performances:

  • Freshman Rylie Jenkins (Loranger, La.) posted the first team record on the day as she took home a ninth-place finish in the women's pole vault with a mark of 3.35m, besting the old record by .2 meters.
  • The women's 4x400m relay team was able to post the second record of the day, besting the old school record by just under a second with a ninth-place time of 4:01.06.
  • Senior Brianna Quartararo (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.) bettered her own team record in the women's 600m as she was able to post a third-place time of 1:35.96.
  • The Trojans men's pole vaulters posted impressive results as Anderson was able to take away 4th, 6th and 8th place in the event. Sophomore Lucas Pryor (Greer, S.C.) took fourth place with a leap of 4.25m, a mark that was matched by sophomore Lambdin Hardy (Commerce, Ga.) after additional tries to take sixth. Sophomore Tyler Farris (Jefferson, Ga.) posted a mark of 4.10m to take eighth.
  • Junior Simeon Respress (Cornelia, Ga.) turned in an eighth-place showing in the men's long jumps as he was able to bound 6.88m.

Up Next:

The Trojans will return to competition on the other side of the New Year with another trip to the indoor facility at Clemson University
