Tapia Named Associate Head Coach

ANDERSON, S.C. -- Anderson University's Men's Soccer Assistant Coach Sergio Tapia has been named Associate Head Coach, as announced by the University's Athletic Department on Friday. 

"I'm very excited for Serg and his promotion to Associate Head Coach," commented men's soccer Head Coach Michael Zion. "Serg started as a volunteer assistant here at AU before his promotion to full time assistant.  He has done a tremendous job with every responsibility and task that has been put Infront of him." 

A native of Vina del Mar, Chile, Tapia joined the Trojans in 2020 following a year as assistant coach at his alma mater, Souther Wesleyan University. Tapia has also coached for Daniel High School, as well as Carolina Elite Soccer Academy. 

Tapia graduated from SWU in 2018 with a Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education with a concentration in Coaching. He concluded his collegiate career as a Warrior after stints playing for Rogers State University and Eastern Oklahoma State College. 

"[Tapia] fully deserves the next step and I, along with the entire team, congratulate him for that achievement," said Zion.
