Love Named Conference Women’s Runner of the Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. - Sophomore Haylee Love has been named SAC AstroTurf Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week, as announced by the conference office late Wednesday morning.

Love slashed more than a minute off her previous personal-best time at the 6K distance to win the Bulldog Stampede last Saturday morning. The Lexington, S.C., native became the first AU women's cross country runner to claim an individual title since former All-American Whitney Bishoff claimed a first-place finish at Furman's Gene Mullin Cross Country Invitational in 2011.

The reigning South Atlantic Conference Freshman of the Year notched her first individual collegiate title with a time of 22:50.45 while out-dueling runners from regionally second-ranked Wingate, No. 4 Queens and fifth-ranked North Georgia in the process.

The award marks Love's first SAC Runner of the Week accolade, as she becomes the first Trojan runner to capture the honor since Amanda Mahaffey in 2012.
