Women’s Cross Country Ranked Fifth in First Regular-Season Regional Poll

NEW ORLEANS - On the heels of impressive back-to-back performances to open the season, the Anderson University women's cross country team is ranked fifth in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) DII Regional Rankings, as released Tuesday.

The Trojans, who were ranked sixth in the preseason poll two weeks ago, joined third-ranked Queens, fourth-ranked Wingate, No. 7 Lincoln Memorial and 10th-ranked Coker as representatives of the South Atlantic Conference in the rankings, with the Peach Belt Conference garnering the other five spots, including the top two slots (Montevallo and North Georgia).

Wingate, the reigning SAC Champion, and Queens flipped spots in the poll, with AU moving up one spot to fifth. UNC Pembroke made its first appearance in the rankings at sixth after not being ranked in the preseason. Lincoln Memorial, Flagler, GRU Augusta and Coker rounded out the 10-team poll.

Anderson returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 26, when the Trojans are scheduled to compete in the Bulldog Stampede, hosted by Wingate.
