ANDERSON, S.C. -- Lander jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first half and cruised to a 4-0 victory over Anderson College in a non-conference match Saturday afternoon at Smethers Field. Sarah Burnette opened the scoring for the Bearcats, 1-0 overall, when she knocked in a loose ball after a scramble in front of the AC net just seven minutes into the match. Stacy Copeland increased the Lander lead to 2-0 at the 19-minute mark on a 10-yard shot. Christine Lang scored Lander's third goal of the first half at 44:14 off an assist from Elise Goldy. Lander's lone goal of the second half came at the 52:42 mark when Tina Dickson scored off a pass from Christian Wade. Lander had 14 shots to 13 for AC, but the Bearcats had an 11-4 shot advantage in the first half. Lander goalkeeper Rachael Hine made six saves to earn the shutout. The loss drops Anderson to 0-1.
