Mollenhauer Earns South Atlantic Conference Female Athlete of the Year for Second Straight Year

ROCK HILL, S.C. – Anderson University women's basketball graduate Alexy Mollenhauer has earned another honor to an already impressive career list, as she was named the South Atlantic Conference Female Athlete of the Year for the second straight year, released Wednesday by the conference office.

The native of Lindale, Texas became the first Anderson University athlete (male or female) to earn this prestigious honor a year ago and now becomes AU's first back-to-back winner. Lenoir-Rhyne's Jaquan Artis earned the 2020 Male SAC Athlete of the Year.

Mollenhauer was a five-time SAC AstroTurf Player of the Week, while also earning USBWA DII National Player of the Week Honors. Mollenhauer garnered multiple post-season honors including NCAA Southeast Region Player of the Year, SAC Player of the Year, SAC First Team, SAC All-Tournament, CoSIDA Academic All-District and CoSIDA Academic All-America, SAC Elite 20 and SAC Scholar Athlete of the Year Award.

Mollenhauer started in all 31 games and averaged 36.0 minutes, 19.7 points, 12.4 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game to go along with 51 blocks and 33 steals. The six-foot guard produced 20 double-doubles, while scoring 20-plus points on 16 occasions. She pulled down an impressive eight-plus rebounds per contest in 30-of-31 games played. Mollenhauer became the first Anderson player to reach at least 1000-points (1,949) and 1000-rebounds (1,017) and the third player in the SAC record books to accomplish the feat.
