Trojans Cruise to Victory over Claflin; 67-42

Anderson, S.C – No. 13 Anderson University women's basketball team cruised to a, 67-42, victory over nonconference opponent Claflin on Wednesday evening at the Abney Athletic Center.

With the win, the Black and Gold move to 3-0 overall, while the Panthers drop to 0-1 overall.

Senior Alexy Mollenhauer notched her second double-double in three games, scoring a game high 20 points and ripping down a game high 14 rebounds. Junior Taylor Hair chipped in nine points, while grabbing seven boards. Hair shot 3-of-4 from the floor, 1-1 behind the arc and drained both of her foul shots. Senior Madison Baggett dished out a game high seven assists, adding nine points and three rebounds. Senior Makayla Green sparked the Trojans dropping in eight points in 12 minutes of action.

Anderson led wire-to-wire with its largest lead of 29 points coming at the end of the third period and again mid-way through the final period of action. Baggett hit a three-point basket to close out the third stanza, while sophomore Britney Bailey made a three-pointer just inside the five minute mark of the fourth.

The Trojans won the battle of the boards, ripping down 20 more rebounds than the Panthers. Anderson shot 40 percent from the floor and behind the arc, while turning the ball over a season high 26 times.

"Happy for the win tonight, but that wasn't our best basketball, said head coach Jonathon Barbaree. "As a team we have to learn to value the ball and stop turning it over. We will get back at tomorrow."

Anderson returns to action on Saturday when it host nonconference opponent University of Alabama-Huntsville. Tip-off is slated for 2 p.m. at the Abney Athletic Center.
