May Named to 2012 Rawlings/ABCA Gold Glove Team

CARY, N.C. - For the second time in as many years, Anderson University third baseman Blake May has been recognized for his outstanding defensive efforts by being named to the Rawlings/American Baseball Coaches Association 2012 NCAA Division II Gold Glove Team.

The team was recognized in conjunction with the Division II National Championship Tournament at the USA Baseball Training Complex.

May, a native of Largo, Fla, garnered the accolade just days after earning his second consecutive All-Southeast Region honor that rewarded his exceptional play. He committed only 10 miscues over the last two seasons, which helped him duplicate his recognition as a member of the Rawlings/ABCA Gold Glove Team in 2011.

He started 49 contests for the Trojans this past season and earned the South Atlantic Conference Gold Glove award at third base for the second straight year, with a .964 fielding percentage on the season.

At the plate, May ranked third on the team with a .326 batting average and tied fellow senior Brett Scarberry with 60 hits and 31 RBI. May also led the team with 21 walks on the season.
