ANDERSON, S.C. - Erskine used five pitchers to limit Anderson to just three hits, as the Flying Fleet notched a 3-0 shutout past Anderson in non-conference action Tuesday night at a soggy Anderson Memorial Stadium.

Anderson fell to 11-30 overall, while Erskine improved to 21-15 on the season.

The two teams got in an inning of play before enduring a rain delay of just more than three hours as thunderstorms rolled through the Upstate.

Erskine got all the offense it would need in the fourth inning, as senior shortstop Zach McCarthy led off with a double to right-center and left fielder Logan Galliher followed with a walk. One out later, first baseman Drew Willingham ripped a single back up the middle to plate McCarthy with what turned out to be the winning run and senior Josh Purvis singled to left, scoring Galliher to make the score 2-0.

The Flying Fleet added an insurance run in the fifth inning when catcher Hanlon Maivelett scored on a wild pitch.

Sophomore Zach Reeves posted a third-inning double for the Trojans, while Erick Sanderson and Tony Price each added singles.

Galliher, Willingham and sophomore Will Huff each went 2-for-4 on the night for the Flying Fleet.

Freshman Landon Beck (1-6) suffered the loss, surrendering three runs on five hits while striking out three and walking two.

Anderson has little time to rest, as the Trojans visit North Georgia College on Wednesday. First-pitch in Dahlonega is scheduled for 6 p.m.
