Braves Salvage Third Game Of The Series, 10-6

ANDERSON, S.C. - Isaac Ezzell, Andy Jewell, and Chris Beck had two RBI apiece to lead UNC Pembroke to a 10-6 victory over Anderson College in a non-conference game Sunday afternoon at Anderson Memorial Stadium. The Braves, 11-10 overall, led 7-1 through five and a half innings and were never seriously threatened. The loss drops Anderson to 6-14. The victory allowed the Braves to salvage the third game of a weekend series. Anderson swept Saturday's two seven-inning games - 11-9 and 12-11. In the first game, the Trojans jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the first inning then survived a four-run rally by the Braves in the seventh. In the second game, the Braves scored seven runs in the seventh to tie the game at 11 then Anderson's Caleb Owen hit a home run in the bottom of the eighth to give the Trojans the sweep. The Braves received a strong start from Ashley Brewer, who scattered 11 hits and allowed four runs in seven innings. Brewer struck out nine and walked two. UNC Pembroke collected 14 hits against nine Anderson pitchers. Jewell and Andy Rosen had three hits apiece for the Braves. Anderson starter Nate Miller (0-2) allowed four hits and three runs in two innings. The Trojans got two runs back in the bottom of the fifth on an RBI double by Jason Ratliff and a run-scoring single by Jason Jones. Jones' run slice the UNC Pembroke lead to 7-3. The Braves scored three times in the fifth to increase their lead to 7-1. Tripp Lockhart singled, moved to second on a wild pitch and scored on a double by Jewell. After Rosen singled, a wild pitch scored Jewell. Another wild pitch moved Rosen to third and he scored on a ground out. An RBI double by Ezzell in the fourth gave UNC Pembroke a 4-1 lead. Anderson got one run back in the second on a solo home run by Tony Graham. UNC Pembroke increased its lead to 3-0 in the second on a lead-off single by Beck, who moved to second on a ground out then scored on a two-out single by Ezzell. The Braves scored two runs in the first. Ezzell reached on an error to lead off the inning and moved to third on a single by Quincy Wyche. After Wyche stole second, Ezzell scored on a ground out. A single by Jewell brought Wyche home. The Braves stole five bases in the game, two by Jewell. Season Statistics
