Trojan Volleyball Tabbed Second in NCAA Southeast Region Rankings

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Anderson University volleyball team is ranked second in the Southeast Region in the NCAA's initial Division II Southeast Region rankings of the season, as released Wednesday afternoon.

Wingate (24-1), which is receiving votes in the latest American Volleyball Coaches' Association (AVCA) Poll, heads up the first of three regional rankings. The Bulldogs are alone in first place in the South Atlantic Conference standings, with their lone loss of the season coming on the road at Carson-Newman. The Trojans hold the second spot in the weekly rankings and have won seven of their last eight decisions. AU is tied for second place in the SAC standings, alongside Queens, with both teams trailing Wingate by two games.

USC Aiken is atop the Peach Belt Conference with a 24-2 overall record and captured the third spot in the rankings. Queens is at No. 4, while Carson-Newman, which is currently fourth in the SAC standings, is fifth in this week's NCAA regional poll.

Lander, which owns five-set wins over both Augusta and USC Aiken this season, is second in the seven-team PBC standings and captured sixth place in the first weekly NCAA poll. Augusta is 21-7 overall and garnered the seventh slot, while
Flagler (18-7), Lenoir-Rhyne (15-11) and Mars Hill (14-12) round out the 10 teams in the poll.

Eight teams from each of the eight regions will advance to the NCAA Division II tournament. In the Southeast Region, the tournament champions from the South Atlantic Conference, Peach Belt, and Conference Carolinas will receive an automatic bid, with five more at-large selections.

The three regional rankings are scheduled to be released weekly on Wednesdays through November 20, with the NCAA D-II Tournament selections scheduled to be unveiled on Monday night, Nov. 25, at 7:30 p.m. on www.ncaa.com.
