ANDERSON, S.C. - The Anderson volleyball team wrapped up its three-match homestand by sweeping Augusta State, 3-0 (25-22, 25-21, 25-17) in nonconference action Tuesday night at the Abney Athletic Center.

The final nonconference match of the season for both squads saw Anderson (12-14) snap a two-game winless skid, while Augusta State (16-12) dropped its final road contest of the campaign.

Sophomore Hailey Pittman shared game-high honors with 11 kills on the strength of a .328 hitting percentage, while Shannon Gillespie added eight kills and three solo blocks. Defensively, sophomore Alix Hooker led all players with 24 digs, with Kalie Endres chipping in 13 digs and sophomore Meghan Cautero completed a double-double with 10 digs and 33 assists. Senior Tiffany Rowe tallied a match-high four solo blocks and knocked down six kills.

Augusta State's Jenna Keeler recorded 11 kills and Kristen Koch notched 10. Senior Kristen Whalig handed out 33 assists and led three Jaguars in double figures with 18 digs.

The first set featured 12 ties, with neither team building more than a four-point advantage throughout the set. AU's Pittman snapped a 20-20 tie with a kill to ignite a 4-0 run by the Trojans as AU capitalized on three consecutive errors by the Jaguars. Augusta State countered with two straight points, but AU's Kelley Lacey finished the set with one of her five kills on the night.

Early in the second frame, the Trojans posted a 9-1 run that turned a 3-1 deficit into a six-point advantage behind the strong serving of Hooker and a pair of blocks from Gillespie. Augusta State trimmed the Trojans' lead to just two on two occasions, but AU pushed out to an 18-13 advantage and maintained the cushion until the Jaguars posted a late rally before Pittman closed the set with a kill.

The Trojans scored the first seven points of the third and final set and Augusta was unable to recover, as AU built a double-digit lead at 14-4 en route to earning the sweep.

Anderson resumes South Atlantic Conference action with its final regular-season two-match road swing, beginning at Catawba on Friday. First-serve is scheduled for 7 p.m
