ANDERSON, S.C. - Anderson University head volleyball coach Craig Mosqueda has announced that Priscilla Irizarry Del Valle has signed a National Letter of Intent to play with the Trojans, starting in 2012.
Irizarry Del Valle, a 6-foot outside/rightside hitter from Moca, Puerto Rico, is an excellent ball handler and an offensive weapon from both the front and back row and also has experience as a setter.
Mosqueda, who took note of Irizarry Del Valle at the 2011 AAU Nationals in Orlando, Fla., expects her to make multiple contributions to the team. Irizarry Del Valle's squad finished 52nd in the open division, winning three of their final four matches.
She was named to the 2011 Junior National Championship All-Star Team and played for Club Vaqueros in Bayamon, Puerto Rico.
"Over the past year I have had the opportunity to get to know Priscilla," Mosqueda said. "She is going to be a great addition to our team not only because of her volleyball skills but also because she fits into the mold of the type of student-athlete we are trying to recruit. When she visited campus this spring she immediately bonded with the team."
Irizarry Del Valle graduated from the Center for Instruction and Modern Education and joins Victoria Wehrmann, Sarah Kivett and Cameron Ohls as newcomers in 2012.
