Volleyball Team Set For CVAC Tournament

ANDERSON, S.C. -- With the possibility of a first-ever regional bid hanging in the balance, the Anderson College volleyball team opens play in the 2004 CVAC Tournament Saturday morning at St. Andrews Presbyterian College. The Lady Trojans, 24-11 overall, are seeded fourth in the tournament. They will face Pfeiffer at 9 a.m. Saturday. If they defeat the Falcons for a third time this season, they will advance to face the winner of the Lees-McRae-Belmont Abbey match in the first semifinal at 2 p.m. The championship match is scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday. Anderson, which has already set a school record for victories in a single season, is led by four starting seniors -- Ryan Johnson, Betsy Fisher, Lindsay Crump, and Mindy Salley. They all lead the team in at least one category: -- Johnson, a native of Spindale, N.C., leads the team in kills with 360. -- Fisher (Lexington, S.C.) leads the team in kills per game (3.02) and hitting percentage (.269). -- Crump (Chapin, S.C.) leads the team in digs with 570. -- Salley (Johnsonville, S.C.) leads the team in aces per game at 0.65.
