Coker Beats Anderson In Five Games To End Streak

HARTSVILLE, S.C. -- Coker rallied from an 8-7 deficit in the fifth game to beat Anderson College 30-20, 28-30, 24-30, 30-26, 15-11 in a CVAC match Friday night. The loss ends Anderson's winning streak at six matches and drops the Lady Trojans to 18-9 overall and 6-5 in the CVAC. Coker improves to 13-11, 5-7. Anderson was led by Lindsay Crump with 14 kills and 13 digs, Betsy Fisher with 13 kills and 16 assists, Ryan Johnson with 12 kills, Mindy Salley with 37 asissts, and Maggie Irvin with 32 digs. Coker was led by Andrea Manuel with 15 kills and Tara Nelson with 50 assists, 20 digs, and four kills. Trailing in the match 1-0, Anderson rallied from an 18-12 deficit to tie the match at one game apiece. In the third game, Anderson broke a tie at 17 with a 13-7 run for a 2-1 lead. In the fourth game, Coker snapped a tie at 20 with three straight points and went on to tie the match at two games apiece. Clinging to a 12-11 lead in the fifth game, Coker scored the final three points to end the match.
