Six Trojans Named to USTFCCCA All-Region Team

NEW ORLEANS, La. – Philip Quillen of the Anderson University men's track and field team, along with Emma Deadwyler, Kamryn Osterbind, Katie Landry, Olivia Rish, and Brianna Quartararo of the women's team were named to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross-Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division II All-Region team.

Quillen, a senior from Spartanburg, S.C., earned All-Region honors for the steeplechase, an event in which he set an Anderson school record at the SAC Championship in the 3000 steeplechase with a time of 9:23.46. This season, he also won the 5k three times and the 3k once. On March 23rd, he was named SAC Astroturf Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week.

Deadwyler, a freshman from Travelers Rest, S.C., earned All-Region honors for the 4x400 relay. Emma had a great freshman campaign for the Trojans by setting four new school records. She was part of the record setting relay team at the Montreat College Invitational that finished in second place with a time of 3:56.62. She was also named AU Female Athlete of the Year, and twice was named SAC Astroturf Women's Track Athlete of the Week.

Osterbind, a junior from Elkton, Md., was named All-Region for both the 800m and 4x400 events. Kamryn set a school record in both the 800m at the Montreat College Invitational (2:13.86), and the 4x400 relay (3:56.62) which earned her SAC Astroturf Women's Track Athlete of the Week honors.

Landry, a junior from Ashland, Mass., was named All-Region for both the heptathlon and javelin. Katie won the heptathlon at the SAC Outdoor Championships with a total of 4120 points and was also named the 2021 SAC Women's Track and Field Elite 20 Award Winner.

Rish, a senior from Pelzer, S.C., earned All-Region honors for the 4x400 relay. She was part of the school record 4x400 relay at the Montreat College Invitational that finished with a time of 3:56.62. She also won the 1500m at the SWU GottaRun Invite (4:55.71).

Quartararo, a sophomore from Port Jefferson Station, N.Y., was named All-Region for both the 800m and 4x400 relay. She was part of the school record relay team as previously mentioned and broke a school record in the 600m with a time of 1:38.31 at the CIU Rams Invitational. This mark helped her earn SAC Astroturf Women's Track Athlete of the Week honors. At the SAC Outdoor Championship, she had a podium finish in the 800m.
