Gooding and Dotson Named Jimmy John’s Athletes of the Week

ANDERSON, S.C. – Anderson University freshmen Kennedy Gooding and Elliot Dotson have been named the Jimmy John's Athletes of the Week, as announced early Friday morning.

Dotson, a track & field standout from Greenville, S.C., ran a 14:10 in the 5,000m race at the Duke Invitational to set a new Anderson school record by 16 seconds. Elliot ranks 10th in the NCAA and first in the South Atlantic Conference for the event. At the High Point University meet (Mar. 31) he set the 1,500m school record with a time of 3:49.74. This coming weekend, the Trojans are getting set to host the Electric City Invitational on April 14th – 15th.

Gooding, a women's golf standout from Lexington, S.C., was earlier named the South Atlantic Conference Freshman of the Year and paced the Trojans to their second straight SAC Championship last week. She led the three-day event wire-to-wire and captured her second tournament title of the year on the strength of her 4-under-par 212, which marked the second-lowest three-round score in tournament history.

Each week, one male and one female student-athlete are honored as the Jimmy John's Athlete of the Week for his or her performance in competition, in the classroom, or in the community.
