Men’s Cross Country Finishes Eighth at NCAA Southeast Regional

WINGATE, N.C. – Paced by Ty Gleason's 37th-place finish, the Anderson University men's cross country team finished eighth at the 2019 NCAA Southeast Regional, which was hosted by Wingate on the Bulldog's campus for the second time in three years.

Defending title-holder Queens saw five runners finish in the top 16 spots, as the Royals took home the championship hardware. Augusta finished as runners-up, with regionally top-ranked Mount Olive taking third place and the final spot of the top three teams that automatically advance to the NCAA Division II Cross Country Championships.

Gleason covered the 10K distance in a time of 33:21.6, while Daniel Similton (33:25.4) claimed 39th place. Thomas Sutcliffe took home 42nd place in a time of 33:31.1, with Philip Quillen (33:45.7) and Noah McLain (34:01.7) captured 47th place and 54th place, respectively.

Matthew Burgess crossed the finish line in 72nd place in a time of 34:30.6, while Noah Brock (35:19.5) rounded out the Trojan contingent in 88th place.
