Weeks Named USILA First-Team All-American and Faceoff Player of the Year

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Cam Weeks of the Anderson University men's lacrosse team has been named a first-team all-american by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) as well as being named the Faceoff Player of the Year. Earlier this week, Weeks was selected to the USILA South All-Region First Team.

Weeks, a sophomore from Mt. Pleasant, S.C., earned first -team honors after an historic sophomore season as he set the new SAC record for ground balls in a season with 174. His faceoff percentage of 82% is the new all-time season high for all three divisions of NCAA. A signature game of Weeks' sophomore season came on Feb. 23 against North Greenville, in which he won 31 of his 35 faceoff attempts while picking up 28 GBs in the 17-16 win. Before the season, he was named an All-American by Inside Lacrosse, USILA, and USA Lacrosse Magazine. Earlier in May, Cam was named a second-team All-American by USA Lacrosse Magazine, south first-team all-region by USILA, and All-SAC first-team.

"Cam had an historic sophomore year, putting up numbers we have never seen in the sport before," said coach Albert Mitchell. "It is a testament to his work ethic and love for the game. I am looking forward to seeing how Cam can continue to improve on his historic performance this season in his next two years!"

In his freshman year, Weeks tallied 157 ground balls while winning 208 of his 286 faceoff attempts for a percentage of 72.73%. Cam led NCAA Division II with 14.27 GB's per game and his winning percentage was good for fourth. His end of the year accolades included: AU Male Athlete of the Year, SAC Freshman of the Year, All-SAC First-Team, USILA All-Region and All-American, Inside Lacrosse and USA Lacrosse Magazine All-American, and USILA D2 Team of the Week.

The Trojans finished their second season in program history with a winning record of 9-7. The season included a win over nationally ranked Wingate, which helped Anderson earn a ranking of 19th in the USILA National Poll. Beau Henson, Joey Heckel, and Peyton Jefferson earned All-SAC honors after the season along with Weeks.
