Men's Basketball Releases 2023-24 Schedule

ANDERSON, S.C. – Entering the second year leading the Trojans, head coach Jimmie Williams and the Anderson University basketball team have announced their 2023-24 schedule as they look to improve upon their season from last year.

The Trojans will open the season hosting a Conference Challenge in the Abney Athletic Center in which they will host teams from the SAC, Conference Carolinas and the Peach Belt. Anderson themselves will take on Flager in the season opening match-up on November 11 before taking on Clayton State on the 12th. They will finish off a three-game home stand to start the season with a visit from Erskine on November 15. Flagler met with the Trojans in Greenwood last year, but Anderson hasn't competed against Clayton State since 2016 and Erskine since 2019.

Anderson then hits the road for their next three games as they travel to non-conference Lees-McRae on the 18th before making the trip to Johnson C. Smith on the 21st. The Trojans won the last match-up against the Bobcats in 2018 while also holding a two-game win streak over the Golden Bulls. The final leg of the trip sees the Trojans open their conference schedule in the month of December against Tusculum on the 2nd. The Pioneers have been a thorn in the side of the Trojans in their last 10 meetings, holding a 7-3 advantage.

Three more non-conference match-ups roll through the month of December as the Trojans get visits from St. Augustine's and Southern Wesleyan before hitting the road to Belmont Abbey on the 4th, 6th and 9th, respectively. Anderson holds favorable records against all three opponents, including a seven-game winning streak against SWU. Catawba and Carson-Newman stand between the Trojans and the holiday break with the Black and Gold traveling to Catawba on the 13th and welcoming in the Eagles on the 16th. Anderson is 17-14 over Catawba since 2010 while taking the last contest against the Eagles in February of 2023.

Just prior to the new year, coach Williams will take his team to familiar territory as they make the trip to Timmons Arena to take on Furman in an exhibition match on December 30. As the new year rolls over a three-game road trip welcomes the Trojans to 2024 with visits to Mars Hill (1/6), Limestone (1/10), and Virginia Wise (1/13). The Trojans boast good records in the last ten match-ups against each team with a 7-3 clip over the Lions, a 5-5 tie with the Saints and a 4-2 mark against the Cavaliers.

Wingate, Emory & Henry and Lenoir-Rhyne will all make trips to Anderson for the next three games for the Black and Gold. The Bulldogs visit on the 17th, the Wasps on the 20th and the Bears on the 24th. A quick trip to Lincoln Memorial on the 27th provides a quick respite before the Trojans return home for two more games against Newberry (1/31) and Coker (2/3).

A trip to Hickory breaks up the home stand again as they take on Lenoir-Rhyne on February 8 before returning home again to take on Catawba (2/10) and Limestone (2/14). The Trojans then hit the road for the next week as they make the trip out to Jefferson City, Tenn. to take on the Eagles of Carson-Newman before heading to Newberry for a mid-week visit with the Wolves on the 21st. The Bulldogs await a visit from the Trojans in Wingate, N.C. on the 24th of February. Anderson wraps up the regular season at home with visits from Mars Hill (2/28) and Tusculum (3/2) as they jostle for seeding in the SAC Tournament.

The tournament heads to a neutral site for the duration this season as the Rock Hill Sports & Event Center will host both the men's and women's championships March 5-8.
