SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- Top-seeded Lees-McRae advanced to championship match of the 2006 CVAC Tournament with a 30-24, 30-28, 27-30, 30-21 victory over fifth-seeded Anderson University Friday night at Converse College. Lees-McRae made the final of the CVAC Volleyball Tournament nine straight years and have won the previous eight championships. Lees-McRae will play the winner of the second semifinal match between #2 Limestone College and #3 Converse College. With the loss, Anderson ends its season a 21-16. Anderson's Leanna Willis was named to the All-Tournament team. Lees-McRae was led by Lacie Smith with 21 kills, Daviana Metti had 13 kills, and Amanda Huffaker with eight. Lauren Dickover dished out 30 assists, while Trisha Reese had 28 assists. Huffaker led the team with two solo blocks and three block assists. Tiarra Pendleton recorded 16 digs to lead the Lees-McRae defense. Anderson's offense was led by Leanna Willis with 16 kills. Heather Swain added nine kills, while Shaunte Heyward contributed with seven kills and seven blocks. Anderson setter Jessica Petrick had 35 assists. Willis also led the team with 28 digs.
