ANDERSON, S.C. - At the conclusion of the 2011 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Women's Soccer Championship on Sunday, Anderson University's Kaitlyn Neipp and Joelle Purinton were named to the All-Tournament Team, as announced by the league office.
The fourth-seeded Trojans defeated fifth-seeded Tusculum on penalty kicks in the opening round of the tourney, then fell shy in their bid to upset top-seeded Lenoir-Rhyne in Friday's semifinals.
Purinton, a junior defensive midfielder from Boxborough, Mass., started and played all but seven minutes of the two matches and was an integral part of the Trojan defensive unit.
A sophomore goalkeeper from Anderson, S.C., Neipp earned first-team all-conference honors following the regular season after ranking 41st nationally with her .835 save percentage and 66th in the country with her 0.987 goals-against average, while anchoring a Trojan defense that set a new school record for shutouts with seven.
She allowed just two goals in two tourney matches, recording a 0.90 goals-against average, while collecting eight saves in the two matches.
