Bishoff Named Conference Runner of the Week

ANDERSON, S.C. -- Following two stellar performances in as many outings, Anderson sophomore Whitney Bishoff has been selected as the Conference Carolinas women's cross country Runner of the Week during week number three in the 2009 season, as announced by the conference office late Wednesday. Led by Bishoff's event-winning 6K time of 24:07, the AU women's cross country team claimed the top spot at the Wingate Invitational last Saturday morning. For the second consecutive week, the Winder, Ga. native paced four AU runners that finished in the top 10 and finished nearly a minute and one-half ahead of her nearest competitor. "Whitney had a great race. She felt great and had a lot left at the end." said Anderson head coach Randy Greer. "She is having a great start to her season." Bishoff has good memories of the Wingate course, as she qualified for the NCAA national meet with a third-place finish at the 2008 NCAA Division II Southeast Regional (23:15 6K time). Next up for the Trojans is the Winthrop Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 19.
