ANDERSON, S.C. - Mount Olive College scored three goals in the first 28 minutes of the match and went on to post a 4-1 victory over Anderson College in a Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference men's match Saturday afternoon at Smethers Field. Mount Olive, 4-1 overall and 1-0 in the CVAC, scored its first goal at 18:27 when Charles Williams scored on header off a corner kick from Chris Jasso. The visiting Trojans increased their lead to 2-0 seven minutes later when Anderson defender Michael Walker scored an own goal for Mount Olive. A pass from Bradley Carroll to Cory Worrell resulted in the third Mount Olive goal at 27:42. Anderson, 1-2 overall and 0-1 in the CVAC, got its lone goal at 31:59 from Conor Dowler. The final goal of the match was scored just 53 seconds into the second half when Reid Clewis, who had missed three excellent scoring opportunities in the first half, got behind the Anderson defense for a goal. Mount Olive outshot Anderson, 24-13. Starting Mount Olive goalkeeper Chris Roush made six saves before being lifted with 12 minutes remaining in the match.
