Men’s and Women’s Golf Teams Named as Under Consideration for NCAA Championship Selection

ANDERSON, S.C. – The Anderson University men's and women's golf teams, which are both nationally ranked heading into the final weeks of the regular season, have been tabbed as "under consideration" by their respective NCAA Championship Selection Committees.

The regional rankings are the official poll used by the NCAA in the championship selection process and are regularly released by the NCAA Division II Golf Committees leading up to the NCAA Championship selections.

On the women's side, No. 5 Anderson, Barry, Carson-Newman, Flagler, Florida Southern, Lander, Lee, No. 14 Limestone, Lynn, Nova Southeastern, Rollins, Tampa, West Florida and No. 16 Wingate were the 14 teams named as under consideration.

The teams currently under consideration will not be put in any rank order until the next ranking, which is slated to be released on Friday, March 31, with the selections for regional competition scheduled to be unveiled on Monday, May 1.

Last year, the NCAA South Region Women's Championship featured 12 teams and six individuals.

The 2023 Women's South Regional Championship will be hosted May 8-10, by North Georgia at the Chattahoochee Golf Club, with the NCAA National Championships slated for May 16-20, in Eureka, Mo.

AU has not finished lower than sixth in a tournament this year and owns three tournament titles so far (LeeAnn Noble Memorial, St. Leo Invitational and the Low Tide Intercollegiate).

The Trojan women's squad is competing at the Findlay Spring Invitational, Monday and Tuesday in Lexington, Ky., and will wrap up the regular season at Lander's Bearcat Classic before continuing their quest for a second straight SAC title at Cobb's Glen Country Club, April 2-4.

The nationally top-ranked men's squad tops 11 teams named as under consideration for the Southeast Region Championships by the NCAA Selection Committee. In addition to the Trojans, Barton, Carson-Newman, Clayton State, Columbus State, Georgia Southwestern, Lander, Limestone, Lincoln Memorial, North Georgia and USC Aiken made the initial list.

Similarly, the 11 men's teams currently under consideration will not be put in any order until the March 31 ranking, with the selections for regional competition scheduled to be unveiled on Friday, April 28.

Last year, the NCAA Southeast Region Men's Championship featured 10 teams and four individuals.

The 2023 Men's Southeast and South Regional Championship will be hosted May 11-13, by Nova Southeastern at the Grande Oaks Golf Club in Davie, Fla., with the NCAA National Championships slated for May 22-26, in Warren, Ohio.

AU has won an unprecedented six tournament titles this year, while finishing fourth at Georgia Southwestern's Hurricane Invitational late last month, and is slated to close out the regular season at next week's Tennessee River Rumble before seeking its first-ever SAC Championship, April 16-18 in Hickory, N.C.
