Men’s Basketball; 2010-11 Season Reflection

ANDERSON, S.C. - The 2010-11 Anderson University men's basketball team polished off a successful debut in the South Atlantic Conference with a second straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament, including an NCAA Regional Championship.

At that time, Anderson became just the second team in South Atlantic Conference history to claim an NCAA Regional Championship and the first team from the state of South Carolina to win a regional championship since Lander in 1999.

The seventh-seeded Trojans defeated the No. 2 Lincoln Memorial Railsplitters, 91-86, in the opening-round action, at host sight Christenberry Fieldhouse, on the campus of Augusta State.

Following the upset over the Railsplitters, Anderson defeated sixth-seeded Montevallo in the semifinal round with a six-point win, 82-76.

Anderson continued its' run through the 2011 NCAA Tournament by upsetting top-seed and host Augusta State, 75-73, in overtime to claim the Southeast Regional title and advance to the Elite Eight.

The Black and Gold's Cinderella run ended when top-ranked and unbeaten West Liberty University (33-0) defeated Anderson (21-12), 113-95, at the MassMutual Center.
