ANDERSON, S.C. – Anderson University men's soccer senior Gabriel Homem and volleyball standout Emily Conlin have been named to the Anderson Federal Credit Union Gold Standard for their outstanding performances in the month of September.
Conlin was named AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Specialist of the Week three times during the month of September, as the Glendale, Ariz., helped lead the Trojans to their best start in program history. The Black and Gold posted a sterling 12-1 record during September, including an 8-1 mark in league action.
Conlin leads the conference in assists and ranks 11th in the nation in assists per set. She stands 20th in the NCAA in in total assists and 21st in service aces. The junior setter has notched nine double-doubles this season and ranks third all-time in the AU record books with 3,241 career assists.
Homem, a native of Belo Horizonte, Brazil helped lead the Trojans to two wins and a draw in September, as the Trojans earned quality wins over Lees-McRae and Mars Hill while narrowly falling to No.10 Lander, 1-0.
The 6-foot forward led the Trojans with 18 shots, including 10 shots on goal during the month. Homem scored three goals while being credited with two assists in September. The senior started four of the six matches while logging 383 minutes.
Each month, one male and one female student-athlete or teams are honored as the Anderson Federal Credit Union Gold Standard Performers of the Month for his or her performance in competition, in the classroom, or in the community.
