Coach Eskridge is in his 16th season as Head Coach at Anderson University. In his previous 15 seasons with the men he has won two conference tournaments, one regular season championship, and led his team to the NCAA tournament four times. Eskridge was named the men's 2022 SAC Coach of the Year after leading his team to a second place regular season finish. Joey has had three All Americans and two Academic All Americans.  The women’s team got ranked for the first time in school history at the NCAA level and won its first regular season SAC championship in program history in 2012 under Coach Eskridge. On the academic side the Women’s program has won the Dr. Shirley Jacks Academic Excellence Award 13 times (most recently, Spring 2022) and the guys team was the first men’s program to win the award in athletic department history.

Eskridge an Anderson native grew up playing on the courts of Anderson University. Joey was a ranked junior player in the state of South Carolina and helped lead the T.L. Hanna Yellow Jackets to two state championships. Eskridge played college tennis for Winthrop University and served as the assistant coach for two years. As an adult Eskridge has won two national titles at the 5.5 men’s level as well as played Senior Cup representing South Carolina three times and was on the winning team in 2018.

At Winthrop University Eskridge served as one of the assistant coaches before moving to Hilton Head Island , South Carolina to pursue his tennis teaching career as Head Professional at South Beach Racquet Club in the Sea Pines Resort. While working at Van Der Meer Tennis University where he was the youngest Head Pro on staff. Eskridge was made the Director of Tennis for the Marriott Grand Ocean Resort on Hilton Head Island.  Eskridge was the Director of Tennis and Club Manager for the I’On Club in Mt, Pleasant, South Carolina for nine years prior to moving back to Anderson to Coach the Trojans. Eskridge has developed many great junior players as well as worked with WTA players while living in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina.

Eskridge has served as Chairmen of player development for the USTA and was a high performance coach for the SCTA for five years. Eskridge coached Southern Junior Cup for four years. Eskridge is a member of the Professional Tennis Registry and an Elite Professional for the USPTA.. In 2002 Eskridge was named Head/Penn Pro of the Year for the Southeast. In 2004 he received the Professional Tennis Registry Member of the Year for South Carolina. In 2005 the I’On Club got the Facility of the Year Award by the USTA under Eskridge's leadership. Eskridge was the first person in SCTA history to receive both the John Newcomb Pro of the Year award in 2008 and in 2013 the Coach of the Year by USTA South Carolina.
