Denton Moore, who played for the Trojans from 2003-2008, was named an assistant coach with the AU golf program in May, 2014 and was elevated to Associate Head Golf Coach in July, 2021, then named Head Women's Coach in September, 2022. He was elevated to the position of Director of Golf following the retirement of Danny Neal in July of 2023.

The Anderson native was named the 2021-22 Division II Golf Pride Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) Assistant Coach of the Year in early June, 2022.

After wrapping up his prep career at T. L. Hanna High School in Anderson, Moore was named the recipient of the Anderson County Men’s Golf Association Scholarship and went on to play collegiately for AU. Following a career that saw Moore earn Carolinas-Virginia Athletic Conference All-Conference honors in 2006, he served as a PGA Head Professional at three golf courses, including the Anderson Country Club, Ladies Island Country Club and Cobb’s Glen Country Club.

As the Head Professional at Cobb’s Glen, Moore oversaw the club’s employees and scheduling, while coordinating and directing corporate outings at the course. Moore also coordinated membership drives and fundraising and manages sales and inventory for the club’s Pro Shop.
As an integral part of the coaching staff, Moore has helped elevate Trojan golf into one of the upper-echelon programs, not only in the southeast, but on a national level, as well.

While the women’s team has been a force to be reckoned with for the last several years, the Trojans have emerged as a national power, especially over the past two seasons.

The women’s team is coming off yet another remarkable season (2022-23) after claiming their second straight conference championship and third league title in four season and finishing 10th in their second consecutive appearance in the NCAA National Championships. AU has become a fixture among the upper echelon in the region and finished as runners-up at the 2023 NCAA South Region Championship in their fourth consecutive regional tournament appearance. Jessica Rathbone captured WGCA All-America accolades for the third straight year after being named the 2023 South Atlantic Conference Golfer of the Year. She finished as runner-up at the SAC Championship after being named First-Team All-SAC for the third consecutive season.

Zoey Iglesias was also a First-Team All-SAC honoree and went on to garner WGCA Honorable Mention All-America accolades, with Kennedy McGaha capturing First-Team All-SAC accolades, collecting WGCA Honorable Mention All-America accolades and being named the AU Female Athlete of the Year. Kennedy Gooding, the second Trojan in as many years to be named SAC Freshman of the Year won the SAC Tournament.

Rathbone and Kerington Lamb also took home CSC Academic All-District honors at the end of the academic year.

Members of the 2022-23 edition of Trojan women’s golf own 25 of the top 27 single-round scores in program history and own the top seventeen 54-hole scores in school history.

The 2021-22 season saw the women’s squad reach unparalleled heights by becoming the first team to make an appearance at the NCAA National Championships and reaching the Final Four, while finishing as the consensus No. 4-ranked team in America – by both Golfstat and the WGCA.

The Trojans remained in the top-10 of the Mizuno WGCA Coaches Poll for the entire year and boasted two WGCA All-Americans, as Rathbone was named to the First Team and SAC Freshman of the Year Kennedy McGaha was named to the Second Team. Along the way, five Black and Gold-clad golfers earned All-South Atlantic Conference honors for the first time in program history.

The women's team made its third consecutive appearance in the NCAA South Region Championship, earned three tournament championships, including their second South Atlantic Conference Championship title in three years, and posted five runner-up performances while competing among the strongest fields in the nation and saw all five starters wrap up the year ranked in Golfstat's Top-100 for the first time in program history.

The Trojans also got the work done away from the links, with Anna Freeman, Victoria Hall and Rathbone each earning CoSIDA Academic All-District® At-Large accolades.

This 2020-21 season saw the women's team make its second straight appearance in the NCAA South Regional, with Emma Charles becoming the second player in two seasons – and just the second individual in school history – to earn a berth in the NCAA National Championships.

In 2020-21, the women’s team earned a pair of runner-up finishes and four third-place performances against top-notch competition, with their bid for a team appearance in the National Championships falling just short with a fourth-place finish. Freshman Jessica Rathbone was named a Second-Team All-American by the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) following the season.

Four years ago, AU notched a record-setting five women's tournament victories and posted a SAC Tournament-record 298 in early April, 2019. The Trojans closed out one of their most successful campaigns in program history in 2019 after earning an automatic bid to the NCAA South Region Championship by claiming their first-ever South Atlantic Conference Championship.

Moore has helped guide the women's squad to 18 tournament titles, including three SAC Championship (2019, 2022 and 2023) and has mentored a trio of All-America honorees (Zoey Iglesias, McGaha (twice) and Rathbone – three times), nearly two dozen All-South Atlantic Conference selections, five SAC Freshmen of the Year, a pair of SAC Scholar-Athletes and two Academic All-Americans.

The Trojans have become accustomed to residing in the national polls, with both teams earning spots in the Golfstat Top-25 during the 2020-21 season for the first time in school history, with the 2022-23 women’s team finishing as the consensus No. 5 team in the nation by both Golfstat and the WGCA, while the men’s team was No. 1 in the nation from late October through the end of the regular season.

During the 2018-19 campaign, AU notched a record-setting five tournament victories and posted a SAC Tournament-record 298 in early April, 2019. As a freshman, Victoria Hall made school history by becoming the first golfer – male or female – to compete in the NCAA Division II National Championships. She finished the NCAA South Regional in Cleveland, Tenn. in a four-way tie for seventh place and moved on to the national stage at the PGA National Resort in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.

On the men’s side, the Trojans earned seven tournament championships - including an unprecedented five straight at one point – and their first-ever South Atlantic Conference title, while making their first NCAA Southeast Region Tournament appearance since 2008.

Behind SAC Freshman of the Year, Alejandro de Castro's three-stroke victory and with Reece Coleman and Calahan Keever sharing the runner-up spot, AU claimed the SAC Championship.

Coleman collected All-Conference honors for the fourth straight year and was named SAC Golfer of the Year before being named a First-Team All-American, while Keever also earned First-Team All-SAC accolades and First-Team All-America accolades. De Castro went on to claim Honorable Mention All-America honors and was named the 2023 NCAA Division II Phil Michelson Outstanding Freshman.

Away from the links, Coleman, Daniel Coker and Simon Wright were all named CSC Academic All-District.

Coleman claimed all-conference recognition for the third straight season in 2021-22, with teammate Keever grabbing all-tournament accolades at the 2022 SAC Championship. Coleman went on to garner CoSIDA Academic All-District honors, as well.

Jake Miller captured First-Team All-South Atlantic Conference recognition at the conclusion of the 2019 season and the Trojan men have won the AU Invitational twice since 2014, along with the 2018 King University Invitational. Miller also earned Honorable Mention All-Conference honors at the end of the 2019-20 season, with Coleman claiming First-Team All-SAC recognition to go along with SAC Freshman of the Year accolades.

Off the course, Miller was named the 2020 SAC Men’s Golf Scholar-Athlete of the Year, with
David Wachter earning Academic All-America honors following the 2016 season and Colt Martin earning Third-Team Academic All-America accolades following the 2019 campaign.

Despite the abrupt end to the 2019-20 season, the youthful women’s golf team closed out the campaign by competing against arguably the strongest field in program history, with the Trojans claiming 17th place in mid-March at the 44th Annual Peggy Kirk Bell Memorial Invitational. The 54-hole event featured seven of the top-10 ranked teams in the nation and 12 of the top-25.

During the 2019-20 season, Anna Freeman claimed individual honors at the AU Invitational, while Victoria Hall posted three top-13 finishes, including a fifth-place performance at the AU Invitational. Moore also mentored standout Kate Hill to postseason South Atlantic Conference honors in each of her first three collegiate seasons, while winning the 2018 Anderson University Invitational and claiming twenty top-10 finishes in her career.

Following the women’s victory at the LeeAnn Noble Memorial in October, 2018, the Trojans climbed as high as 16th in in Golfstat's national Top-25 Team Rankings – which marked the first appearance in Golfstat's Top-25 in school history, and four golfers earned all-conference accolades at the conclusion of the 2019 regular season - senior Tiffany Elam was named First-Team All-Conference, while junior Kate Hill, sophomore Anna Freeman and freshman Victoria Hall captured Second-Team All-SAC honors.

Earlier, Elam captured All-SAC honors following the 2017 campaign, with teammate Kate Hill capturing First-Team All-SAC accolades and being named SAC Freshman of the Year.
Moore serves as the Trojans’ recruiting coordinator and handles practices and tournament responsibilities, along with managing the men’s and women’s golf social media sites - including Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.

He earned his bachelors’ degree in psychology from Anderson University in 2007. He and his wife, Lauren reside in Anderson, along with their daughter, Monroe.
